Rentals France Newsletter Number 16, February 3 2000

Contents.

By popular request I will be sending out a more frequent newsletter, the good news is that it will be shorter and cover only a few topics. This way I can bring you details of special offers or news much more quickly instead of waiting for lots of stuff to fill a long newsletter.

We are having a warm and sunny period now but the log fires are still nice in the evening.

1. Bed and Breakfast
2. Buying a house in France, more tips.

=====

1. Bed and Breakfast

If you are travelling around France then Bed & Beakfast, (Chamber d'Hote) accommodation is good value. Many rental properties insist on a one week minimum, this is not always convenient if you are touring. A B&B will let you stay one or two nights and are a very reasonable price in France.

Often the owners will provide an evening meal and this can be a real treat and always excellent value.

Many of the hosts are people who have moved here from other countries and have fallen in love with France and the way of life. You may find your hosts are a mine of information and useful advice.

I used to have a few properties listed on our Rentals-France site which offered Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Slowly as I added more self-catering rental properties these got pushed out and the links were taken off. As a start to put the new France information page together I am making a new Bed & Breakfast site and the first ones are now listed on.

http://www.GoTo-France.com/

I only list accommodation where you will get a personal service from friendly people.

If you know any good places, please let me know and I can ask if they wish to be on the site.

2. Buying a House in France

Another site I am building is one for listing properties for sale in France. This will be part of

GoTo-France.com

Many visitors and guests who have stayed with us have asked about buying homes here. My best advise is to find a village or town they really loved and then ask around. The boulangerie is often the center of village life. All the gossip and news ends (starts) there, often they will have little announcement cards in their windows. If you ask, or advertise, if anyone knows of a suitable house for sale, you might just find your dream.
